News & Events

Hi there and Welcome

On here, you will find all our latest news and upcoming events.

Always keep an eye out for updates and exciting news! You can head over to our Private Members page for all matters concerning current pupils and parents such as exam and competition information and timetables etc or any important class info we need to inform you of.

First and foremost, we are very much looking forward to what will be our 5th Show and 1st show for SIX YEARS!  "Take 5" which will be a celebration and showcase of ALL school pupils for 3 nights in the Beach Ballroom from 13-15th June.

At the time of writing we are only 45 days away from the show and everything is coming together well. If you do not have your tickets yet, come and see us in class or log onto the beach ballroom box office to purchase without delay as we are heading towards a sell out.

All details of this will appear on here as we progress towards the show and private pupil/parent information can be found on our private members page on this website. Please check with staff for the private code to access this page.

Congratulations to all our December ISTD and IDTA exam candidates who absolutely smashed their gradings with EVERY child gaining a distinction mark of 80+ right up to 92!

A special shout out to April Grassick who, following her wonderful score of 93/100  in her Grade 5 Ballet exam was nominated by her examiner for the IDTA Theatre Awards. April competed at the 2024 awards with candidates from over the World. Congratulations April. Proof that hard work/dedication really does pay off. On top of that, April has successfully auditioned and will be furthering her training at the prestigious Italia Conti College in Surrey starting in September.

Congratulations to 2 of our youth students: Monroe Menhinick and Andrea McNee who have both been successful in gaining places at the SMB ballet Associate scheme for 2024.

Many congratulations to our team of competitive students who took home a large number of medals, trophies and titles, including Sophia Reid who won champion Dancer in her age group and Andrea McNee who had the highest scoring solo at the recent Follow your dreams heat in Aberdeen.

A HUGE shout out and congratulations to Monroe Menhinick who has reached her first ever Ballet Pre Championship final. Not only did Monroe reach the final 6, but placed a very credible 4th place from an initial large 1st round in the Zetland Juvenile Pre Championships. We are all very proud of you Monroe.

A huge congratulations to 5 of our students who took part in the "Follow Your Dreams" National finals in the Winter Gardens in Blackpool during the 2023 October Holidays. Between the 5 of them, they took home NINE national titles, and numerous r/up, 3rd and 4th places as well as honourable mentions in their individual age groups and styles. Fabulous work from April Grassick, Andrea McNee, Monroe Menhinick, Sophia Reid and Sophie Morrison.

We were very excited to have some of our Senior Students alongside some of our teachers who went to  London back in March to dance in front of 65,000 people at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the Summer Showdown between Saracens and Harlequins Rugby teams. Another fantastic opportunity for our dancers having only last year and 2 years previously been invited to dance at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone! Our next performance with the Pro Exel Company will be performing at the Formula E event in July  at the Excel Centre in London and we can't wait to start rehearsals!

We also performed in the Summer at the annual Friends of Duthie Park Family Fun Day on 20th August, where many of our recreational pupils showcased their talent and routines from class.

Please also see our Facebook page (Sharon Gill School of dance official page) for all up to date info. And don't forget to check out our Instagram: Sharon Gill dance for all pictures from classes and displays/competitions.

Kind regards

Sharon
